Who is behind SAIL & RACE?
Henning Rocholl, Hamburg, created the brand name SAIL & RACE in 2003. Henning's blue-water experience dates to 1969 with an ocean-going sailing career of almost 70.000 miles - 40.000 as skipper of big fully crewed yachts including 4 ocean crossings.
For the traditional Hamburgischer Verein Seefahrt [HVS ] - founded 1903 - Henning organized the club's successful participation in the STA (Sail Training Association)'s "Christopher Columbus" (around the Atlantic series - 1990) and in 1996/9 organized the HVS round-the-world entry in the Hong Kong Challenge 1996/97. From 1989 Henning held many voluntary offices in the world of sailing especially at a very renowed Hamburg based yacht club at the Alster lake including seven years as a jury member for one of the most famous offshore trophies, the Schlimbachpreis.
Henning was the principal behind the conception, planning and operation of the DaimlerChrysler North Atlantic Challenge 2003 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the HVS. In the planning and realization of the NORD/LB Baltic Sprint Cup 2005 and the Baltic Sprint Cup 2006 Henning was also the principal, being Event General Manager on all occasions. The Baltic Sprint Cup 2007 will be again under his control.
